MO-Tae Bum of South Korea wins the Gold Medal on his 21st birthday.

Japanese skaters Keiichiro Nagashima won the silver and Joji Kato won the bronze.

Shani Davis dropped out after the first leg, in which he finished 18th, but he will compete Wednesday in the 1000 meter.

U S Winter Olympic Speedskater Shani Davis

Top U.S. speedskater Shani Davis is a Gold medal contender.
Davis became the first black athlete ever to win an individual gold at the Winter Olympics in 2006. In Vancouver, he is considered the frontrunner to win both the 1,000 and 1,500 meters competitions.
